When Dancing on the Bridge began seven years ago, no one could have foreseen how much support it would gain! The residents of Malvern, former residents and members of surrounding communities have been generous with their donations and their time and talents, working to make this annual downtown festival and car show a great success. This exciting teamwork has resulted in a great many improvements in the Village of Malvern: streetlights on the bridge and downtown streets, community flower planters, a beautiful double-sided Malvern clock and the Welcome to Malvern sign. And in our park, thanks to the vision of our donors, we have a walking track, exercise stations, benches, trees and a resurfaced basketball court! The total raised from Dancing on the Bridge and grants in the last seven years exceeds a remarkable $300,000!
This year, Dancing on the Bridge will be on Saturday, September 10 and will again include a Vehicle Show (car, truck, motorcycle & tractor), a street festival with food and craft vendors, free Children's Activities, a basket raffle, beer garden, street entertainers and the main stage band, LaFlavour from 8-11 pm, for dancing in the street!
This year we are working to resurface the tennis courts in the park, and to buy playground equipment for children with disabilities. The tennis courts were once very popular recreational and fitness sites, but they are now in such poor condition that they are virtually unplayable. We would like to make tennis a healthy option for our citizens again, and to add playground equipment so children with special needs can enjoy the park fully. This project will require community teamwork and we hope you will be a part of the effort to continue making Malvern a better place to live, work and raise our families.
The Dancing on the Bridge Committee has established several giving levels for supporting these projects. We urge you to look over the sponsorship levels and consider if you are able to once again invest in our hometown. Thank you!
